Lucé Botanical Perfume Oil
BOIS DE SIAM: Also called Siam wood, this cypress yields a very unique oil that has creamy, opoponax-like aromas. This base note lingers throughout the evolution of Lucé and pairs well with the other spices.
BLOOD ORANGE: Although not sharply citrus, blood orange here adds a bright fruitiness that helps elevate the dense botanicals and compliment the spices as it ebbs and flows through the formula.
BAY RUM: This Caribbean native holds its head high throughout the majority of the fragrance, being detectable through the entire evolution. Its “dry” spice effect lends to its complexity and intrigue.
Famed as the final home of Leonardo da Vinci, the Château du Clos-Lucé (pronounced kloh-loo-SAY) celebrates the polymath both inside the red brick Renaissance château and out in the expansive gardens. Large canvas artworks of da Vinci’s paintings and drawings hang from trees and large replicas of his inventions can be explored and interacted with in the garden. Botany was one of da Vinci’s passions and the gardens feature specimens found in his drawings and paintings. This historic perspective gives us a marshy, softened landscape with turbulent eddies, mossy evergreens, and other earthy treasures. Like da Vinci’s sfumato technique, we’ve formulated the bouquet of our fragrance to softly transition between the spicy-scented interiors of the château with the woody, sweetened scents of the gardens.
In reliving our own experiences wandering the grounds of Clos-Lucé, we designed a complex scent using plant-based essential oils and compounds that includes Vietnamese Siam wood, Italian blood orange, and Indian bay rum to draw inspiration from the earthy, spicy aromas of old parchment and wood fireplaces, the sweet smells of simple flowers and breathing marshes, and to inspire a bit of wonder and intrigue as da Vinci did with his inventions, art, and everything in between.

Our Lucé botanical perfume oil is made with skin-friendly, natural golden jojoba oil as well as a complex blend of plant-based oils and compounds that includes Vietnamese Siam wood, Italian blood orange, and Indian bay rum. Each perfume is made in micro batches and then aged for a month so you get the strongest and freshest sensations possible.
All of our botanical perfumes, regardless of their format, are meticulously crafted exclusively from natural ingredients. As a result, they exhibit a distinct difference from the customary endurance of synthetic perfumes. Rather than filling the surrounding space with their aroma, our perfumes are designed to envelop and enhance the essence of the wearer and those in close proximity. Their longevity, spanning approximately 2 to 6 hours (sometimes more), is subject to an individual's unique body chemistry—although we commit ourselves to a minimum of 3 hours for a perfume formula, from the initial fragrance unveiling to the lingering traces of base notes on the skin.
In a departure from conventional perfumery, our creations are artfully constructed to undergo a metamorphosis over time. Unlike traditional fragrances that maintain a static olfactory profile, our perfumes evolve and transform, much like the gardens from which we’ve drawn inspiration. This transformative quality imparts a heightened sense of intrigue and complexity, offering the wearer an interesting journey of discovery with every application. Usage: On moisturized skin, apply roller ball to pulse points with desired amount of oil. Reapply as desired.
