BLACK HEMLOCK: The traditional "evergreen" scent with hints of musky blackcurrant and smoky wood makes up the base of this fragrance.
MATÉ: This extremely earthy smelling Brazilian tea has notes of tobacco, smoky meadows, and damp earth that adds tremendous depth to this fragrance.
SAGE: Bright and unexpected - we've used sage to help bring together the heavier botanicals into a cohesive, balanced fragrance.
The Château d’Azay-le-Rideau (pronounced ah-zay-luh-REE-doh) sits on a small island in the river Indre and is surrounded by English-styled gardens. Its history dates back centuries to François I - a king of France known today for his habit of leisure and construction of Renaissance chateaux. Here, the landscape hides the encroached village and one finds themselves in a place of watery reflections, groves of exotic evergreens and trees, and winding paths. We felt this Renaissance masterpiece was the perfect inspiration for a warm wintery fragrance (Azay-le-Rideau is celebrated for its lavish holiday décor and fanfare) that both utilizes the scents found in the park as well as capture some of that holiday spirit.
By reliving our experiences on the grounds of Azay-le-Rideau, we designed a complex scent using plant-based essential oils that includes Canadian black hemlock, Brazilian maté, and Croatian sage to conjure up memories of earthy, crackling stone fireplaces, of lush evergreen groves bowing amid a flurry of snow, and of comforting, familiar holidays spent in wonder and excitement.

The Azay-le-Rideau botanical solid perfume is made with pure, natural jojoba oil and beeswax as well as a complex blend of plant-based essential oils that includes Canadian black hemlock, Brazilian maté, and Croatian sage. Each perfume is individually crafted and hand poured so you get the strongest and freshest sensations possible.
All of our botanical perfumes, regardless of their format, are meticulously crafted exclusively from natural ingredients. As a result, they exhibit a distinct difference from the customary endurance of synthetic perfumes. Rather than filling the surrounding space with their aroma, our perfumes are designed to envelop and enhance the essence of the wearer and those in close proximity. Their longevity, spanning approximately 2 to 6 hours (sometimes more), is subject to an individual's unique body chemistry—although we commit ourselves to a minimum of 3 hours for a perfume formula, from the initial fragrance unveiling to the lingering traces of base notes on the skin.
In a departure from conventional perfumery, our creations are artfully constructed to undergo a metamorphosis over time. Usage: For best scent application, use the edge of your fingernail to scrape up a portion of solid perfume. Liberally apply at pressure points (wrists, neck, behind ears, inside elbows, etc.), or wherever you wear fragrance. Reapply as desired throughout the day.
