FONTAINEBLEAU

Originally constructed as a medieval castle, the château de Fontainebleau has changed many hands over the centuries, but is most known as the palace of Emperor Napoléon and Empress Josephine. Thanks to the imperial influence on the gardens and environs, we wanted to design a scent that not only joins the great love Josephine and Napoléon shared, but also to blend her love of rose gardens with flora based on his conquests of foreign and exotic lands.

 

By reliving our own experiences wandering through the gardens of Fontainebleau, we designed a complex scent using plant-based essential oils that includes Australian sandalwood, Bulgarian rose, and Indian vanilla to capture the simplistic gardens of green topiaries, parterres of exotic sweet flowers, and the rose gardens of Josephine.

 

Each bath product in this series utilizes dried seasonal blooms and naturally derived micas to imbue them in blues and pinks to meld the imperial grandeur of Napoléon’s life with the charisma and elegance of Joséphine and her gardens.
